1. Candles, incense sticks, and mosquito coils must be placed on a suitable, stable surface; this is usually a ceramic saucer of the sort used in the garden, with a minimum diameter of 20 cm (8 in). These are not provided as standard in individual houses, but will be made available to the tenant on request in the quantity they require.
2. Candles must be used with the utmost caution. Only candles with an aluminum casing, such as tea lights, should be used. During the dry season, from December to May, but mainly during the dry, hot season, from February to May, the use of open flames, including the lighting of candles, is not permitted.
3. Incense sticks are best placed in a plastic pot (e.g., a yoghurt pot) filled with sand. Both the pot and the sand can be provided on request.
4. There is a special metal holder for mosquito coils. This should not be thrown away once the coil has burnt out, but should be reused for the next set of coils.
