10 — Tranquility

  1. The residential homes at Baan Sammi are a retreat for people who prefer a quiet life in natural surroundings. Most guests and tenants like to listen to the birdsong, the croaking of the frogs, and the rustling of the bamboo leaves in the wind.
  2. Please avoid any loud conversations or outdoor music. If you prefer to listen to music outdoors or watch movies outdoors, please tune down the volume so that other guests and tenants are not disturbed, or, even better, use a (wireless) headset or earphone.
  3. If you are arriving late at night, please walk quietly to your house. Outdoor conversations at night should be held at a whispering noise level.
  4. If a tenant or guest occasionally wants to organize a party, we offer the place next to the Clerodendrum Chalets, which is ideally suited for this purpose. An early announcement of the party, at least 3 days in advance, is requested.
  5. We regret keeping a dog that occasionally likes barking at night. If someone knows a soft method to break the dog's barking habit, we would be very grateful.

A bamboo culm is sawn off at its base using a reciprocating saw (left). The thinner upper section of a bamboo culm is inserted into the garden shredder; the chopped material is collected and later used for soil improvement (right).

  6. Garden work sometimes causes a bit of noise. Especially when tree trunks, tree branches, or bamboo stems are sawn off with an (electrical) reciprocating saw, or when tree branches and bamboo, as well as other plant material, are shredded into mulch with a (gasoline-powered) garden shredder. Tenants will be informed one or two days in advance about the day, time, duration, and location of such noise-causing garden work. The reciprocating saw is usually used within the Baan Sammi property, whereas chopping the plant material with a garden shredder is generally done on a neighboring property (thus, it is less noisy).
