18 — Gas

1. Availability: Propane gas is available in three houses for cooking, or for a hot shower. Gas is not available in Plumeria Home and Dillenia Home.
2. The cost of using gas is included in the rental rate for short-term rent. For long-term rent (from quarterly rent onward), the available gas will be charged by weight (±1 kg, total filling of 1 gas tank = 33 lb = 15 kg) at the beginning of the rental period, or, when the gas tank is empty and needs to be replaced by a full tank. 
3. Safety: Each gas tank has a valve and a pressure regulator. Always after having used gas for cooking or showering, the valve of the tank must be turned off promptly. 
4. How to turn on the gas:
   • Turn on the valve (not more than a quarter left turn) of the gas tank.
   • Press down the button of the pressure regulator for half to one second.
   • Turn on the switch of the gas cooker, or the valve of the tap water at the water heater, respectively.
   • Tai Saeng Chan Pavilion only: On the bottom of the casing of the water heater, there is a toggle switch which you need to switch on, or off and on, to get the ignition started. The casing has a window, where the ignition can be observed; when you see a blue flame, the ignition was successfully started.
5. How to turn off the gas:
   • Turn off the switch of the gas cooker, or the valve of the tap water at the water heater respectively.
   • Turn off the valve (right turn) of the gas tank.
6. Caution: Never fully turn up the valve of the gas tank, and never forget to turn off the valve after usage! The thread of the valve and connections might not be sufficiently tight, due to bad maintenance of tanks by the gas tank filling company.
7. Troubleshooting: If the water heater or gas stove does not ignite a flame, this usually has one of three causes: 1, The gas tank is empty. 2, The energy of the batteries of the water heater is depleted. 3, The water pressure in the water pipe is low or interrupted, usually due to an electric power break which renders the electric water pump inoperative. In all these cases, please, contact us, don't try to solve the problem by yourself.
