- The interior of buildings, including all furnishings and wall and floor tiles (but most often material made of wood and leather), can be affected by mold mainly when air circulation is obstructed over extended periods (a week, a month), and especially during the rainy season with high atmospheric humidity. Quick mold infestation occurred more than once in various homes in the not-too-distant past during the rainy season, particularly within a few days of continuous rainfall causing 99% humidity.
- Always care for airflow: Open the bedroom door (when the air-conditioner is turned off), open the kitchen door, and, most importantly, open the bathroom door as well; since some window openings are air-permeable with mosquito gauze (in the bathroom, kitchen, and living room, but not in some bedrooms if they are air-conditioned), this creates a draft through the entire house. In addition, the movement of air can be supported by ceiling fans and other fans (table fans, floor fans, wall fans), and when the air-conditioner in a bedroom is turned on.
- To avoid or minimize the risk of mold infestation when a tenant is absent for an extended period, especially during the rainy season, every tenant gets the option for each room with insufficient ventilation to install a timer-controlled table fan providing sufficient ventilation. The timer can be set so that the fan turns on and off approximately every two hours. The required number of timers and table fans are provided to tenants free of charge.
